"FRUITFUL" EXPRESSIONS

Have you ever heard of the phrase "to go bananas"? I wonder why English speakers include so many fruits in their conversations. But for now, I will just introduce you to some of the common "fruit" sayings.

To go bananas: to get crazy or mad at someone/something.
e.g. "When I told my teacher I forgot my homework, she went bananas."

To go nuts = to go bananas: to go crazy at someone/something.

As cool as a cucumber: be very calm.
e.g. "Tom is as cool as a cucumber. He never gets angry."

When life gives you lemons, make lemonade: when you face difficulties, try overcoming them by making them opportunities.

Low-hanging fruits: easy tasks.
e.g. "In a test, first pick the low-hanging fruits so you can get as many points as possible."

Life is not a bowl of cherries: life is not easy.
e.g. "Don't wait for your chance to come. You've got to grab it yourself. Life is not a bowl of cherries."

Every bean has its black: everyone has their faults and failings.
e.g. "Just because John is the best student in class doesn't mean he is good at everything. Every bean has its black."

An apple a day keeps the doctor away: eat healthy and you will never need to go to the doctor.
