LEARNING NEW WORDS

LEARNING NEW WORDS

Things you'll need for learning new words effectively:

 - A good dictionary (I recommend an English English one so that you can learn new words as well as the way they paraphrase each one).
Looking up a word - http://thetalentcode.com

- A vocabulary notebook.

Tips on how to learn new words effectively:

- READ EVERYDAY: newspaper articles, books, and magazines are recommended. When you meet a new word, it is essential to look it up because it might help us understand more about the text you are reading. This is especially useful because books, magazines and news are what we really like, so reading them satisfies our needs.

- FUN LEARNING: learn new words through games, songs, movies, etc. Try to use lyrics or subtitles. Notice any interesting words or phrases.

- DEAR DIARY, ... : write at least 5 words daily and review them frequently. Personally, I also write in some example sentences to help me remember different aspects of the words. Although some people recommend 10 words a day but as a student, I believe 5 is already enough.
